After a lot of troubles, the domain is finally back in my control. With special thanks to AN22 for providing incredible support and assistence in the transfer progress. I didn't make the deadline, so it's still drupal for now. This will change really soon.

PHP4 deprecated

It's been 3 years allready since PHP5 was introduced. I still remember me buying a book for PHP5 a few days after it was released, to learn about the new OOP features in PHP5. Though way too late to be an early adapter, I did adapt it soon after PHP5 was released. And besides some freelance jobs, I managed to stick with PHP5 for the whole 3 years. And, as you probably knew allready, I even became PHP5 certified a short time ago.

PHP Namespaces are a go

Thanks to the patch of Dimitri, the PHP namespaces are finally going to be implemented. It hasn't been said for which release, but they are coming. And I like it! This might even be the start for codeblock namespaces as well. Looks like PHP is really going to be a decent OOP language. Did I say I love it, allready?

Zend Certified Engineer

I passed! Last friday, I passed Zend's certification test for PHP5. The exam was pretty tricky, but I made it through. And for passing the test, Zend kindly rewarded me the title of Zend Certified Engineer, and offered me a nice logo to use on my website:

Now the wait can start for Ligaya to pass too. Read her blog here!

UPDATE: And Ligaya passed too. Congrats lig!

C# certified

Just 2 days and a couple of hours before I am scheduled to take the ZCE exam, I dared to take the 'Programming in C#' test at ExpertRating.com, and passed. All the 'advanced programming' topics were passed at 80%+ score, and the theory questions at average rating (0 correct on CLR). Overall score: 62%, and I'm happy with that for now. Maybe I retake the test one time, when I pick up some C# projects again, as I currently haven't done anything in C# for the past 6+ months.

And with the test comes a nice logo:

ZCE exam: here we come!

[JAVA] To equalize or not to equalize

Being used to the magic of PHP, it can be quite hard to get used to a more strict language. Variable comparison can only be done if both types are the same. String "5" is definately not the same as Integer 5. But what happens if you compare two strings? That should be easy right? Well, not allways.

The art of development

Recently, I stumbled upon one of the most beautifull pieces of source code. It's a really simple flightsimulator, written in C. Nothing special about that. But the source code is completely indented, so it looks like an airplane. Now that's art with a capital A. Here's what it looks like:

Revenge of the WOW-ers

Don't you just hate those people that post comments like 'OMGWTFBBQ!!!111!1!!'? Not only does nobody know what it exactly means (BBQ is defined as Barbecue, Be Back Quick, Bitch Be Quiet, and a lot more), they usually just post it because they have no idea what the story is about. A normal human would not comment, or ask education if they have no idea what the story is trying to tell, but I guess for certain people this is their way of showing. Several anti-spam engines for blogs and news sites, already block 'sequences of said characters', to disallow people from embarrassing themselves in such a way. But if you think that’s the whole story, then buckle up. The shit just hit the fan…

Webdevelopment evolution

I like PHP. No, better said: I love PHP. I've been developing in PHP for over 4 years, and it never failed me on creating a solution for a real problem. And it has allways been fun to play with. But lately, I've run more and more into the shortcomings of PHP. I coped with it for a long while, but it became harder and harder to motivate myself to continue developing in it, and the urge to change whole PHP grew more and more.

I'm baaaaaaack!

"It's a crack, I'm back, yeah, standing on the rooftops shouting out: baby, I'm ready to go!" (Thanks Republica for the quote).

After a whole lot of troubles, I finally made it back online. To give you the short version: my dedicated server provider and domain registrar (one single person) decided to vanish into thin air, and I had to go to hell and back to get my domain back in my possesion. With special thanks to the great guys of AN22 for their great assistence in this case.
